About this research

SpectOcular studies how a photograph of the retina — the back of your eye — might one day help reveal early signs of disease elsewhere in the body, such as the kidneys, the heart and the brain. Your eye doctor's office may invite you to take part in that research. Taking part is voluntary, is decided only in person on the Board-approved consent form, and does not affect your care.
